“DeVry Gives Career Training the Old College Try”

A new college in Queens called DeVry markets itself as providing “career-oriented liberal arts training.” A CUNY professor respond to this with worries that the students are not getting a proper liberal arts education, and that the schools cost more and do not provide students with enough resources. A student interviewed in the article came to the school after failing CUNY’s writing examination. The article conveys a lingering concern for what they call “commercial” higher education.
